For anyone using Presto in Ontario, it’s super easy! You just tap on and off (unless you’re on a subway/streetcar within Toronto, then often just tap on). You can load money or passes online, or at machines in stations. Google Maps is pretty good for planning routes, but I find the official TTC or Transit app even better for real-time updates and disruptions.

Regarding driving, converting your foreign license can take a bit, so definitely check your provincial website early. I found that even with years of experience, some provinces require a written test and a road test eventually, so brush up on Canadian road rules! Things like four-way stops and right turns on red (where permitted) can differ from other countries.
