For me, getting the SIN and applying for the provincial health card were definitely the absolute top priorities right after landing. The SIN is needed for literally everything work-related, and health coverage is just peace of mind. Beyond those, I’d say figuring out temporary accommodation and then starting to look for long-term housing was next. It’s tough to settle without a stable home base. For housing, I found Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji surprisingly useful for initial searches. They often have rooms for rent too, which can be a good starting point.
